What’s new in 2010
Le Nôtre’s parterres restored to their former splendour
For the first time since the 18th century, visitors can marvel at the superb ornamental ponds in André
Le Nôtre’s French-style gardens. You can admire the majestic perspectives and fountains of the eleven ornamental ponds and the Grand Canal and its waterfall. The fountains are now permanently working again due to the restoration of the park’s ingenious hydraulic system, built in the 17th century.
Equestrian show, “A Russian Prince visiting Chantilly”
During his visit of Chantilly, the son of Catherine the Great, the future Tsar Paul I, reminisces about his native Russia. To the sound of balalaikas, the spectator is whisked away to the land of Cossacks and troikas.
